Hölkná is another unique river in the North East of Iceland.

There are 2 rods on the Hölkná and the river has 27 pools on a 10 km. stretch from the waterfall to the sea.

Distance from Reykjavík is about 625 km.  This is about the furthest from Reykjavik you can go for salmon fishing in Iceland. There is an option to take a domestic flight to the nearest town, Þórshöfn.


The Lodge

The lodge is self-catering with 2 double rooms. Full service is available at extra cost upon request. It´s newly renovated with great attention to details.



The Fishing & Tackle

Hölkná is fly only.  All salmon is released.

Average total catch for the last 5 years (2011-2015) is 123 salmon per year.

Recommended tackle is 7 to 8 wt. single-handed rods, 9 to 10 ft. or double-handed rods, 7-8 wt., 12,5 to 13,0 ft.
