Tungulækur river located on the south coast of Iceland.

One of Iceland´s best Sea Trout rivers, running through stunning lava fields on the South coast of Iceland. 

The spring season starts on April first through extends into the month of May. The fall season starts mid August and ends late October.

The river is fished with 4 rods in the spring and 3 rods in the fall.

Distance from Reykjavík is about 300 km.

Currently there is no lodge at the river. We can be of assistance to book your stay in the area, either in one of the many hotels close by or in a “bed and breakfast” place.


The Fishing & Tackle

The river is Fly only and fly selection is trout selection, streamers and nymphs.

The numbers are not exact but around 1.000 Sea Trouts are caught in the combined spring and fall season. The sea trout is of all sizes and giants are often caught, fish close to 20 pounds!

Recommended tackle is single-handed rods, 7 to 8 wt., 9 to 10 ft., floating and sinking lines.
